Applying for a Labour Hire Licence

The processing time for licences is up to three weeks from the date you submit your licence application.

How to apply

  1. If unsure of your situation, complete our eligibility questionnaire
  2. Refer to our application guide to help you prepare for the online application
  3. Refer to our resources page for relevant forms
  4. The online application form does not have a ‘save for later’ function, meaning you must complete your application in one sitting. Before you commence your application:
    • Ensure that all required documents are in your possession
    • Allocate 20 to 30 minutes to complete the online form.
  5. Submit your application form
  6. Pay the application fee.

The application fee MUST be paid at the same time as you submit your application. Failure to pay the application fee may result in your application being rejected.

Application fee for 2023-24: $3,106.00 (GST is not applicable)

New applications

Once your application package has been submitted, a labour hire licence officer will review your details and contact you if further information or clarification is required.

You cannot provide labour hire workers during the application assessment process.

Pending assessment and your application meeting the criteria, you will be issued with a Labour Hire Licence stating the licence number and any conditions of your Labour Hire Licence.

Renewal applications

How to renew your existing Labour Hire Licence:

WorkSafe ACT will send you a notification four (4) weeks prior to the expiry date of your current licence with instructions on how to submit your renewal licence application and what documents you need to submit.

Please allow at least two (2) weeks for the assessment of your renewal application package.

** If you provide any labour hire workers after your labour hire licence has expired, you will be contravening section 33 of the Labour Hire Licensing Act 2020 and regulatory action may be taken against you.

Public register

Your businesses details will appear on the public register, available on the WorkSafe ACT website, to enable businesses, workers, and the community to verify the details of your licence.
