Speaking engagement requests
WorkSafe ACT is committed to promoting a safe and healthy work environment by providing educational presentations to stakeholders. These presentations are designed to inform and guide the ACT on various aspects of Work Health and Safety.
A WorkSafe ACT Representative can deliver presentations on a range of critical topics, including:
- Psychosocial Hazards: Addressing and understanding psychosocial hazards in the workplace to ensure a supportive and safe environment for all employees.
- Risk-Based Prosecutions: Understanding the WHS legislation and enforcement actions, emphasising the importance of compliance and proactive risk management.
- Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Workers: Focusing on the unique challenges and considerations for workers from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, promoting inclusivity and equitable treatment in the workplace.
- Journey of an Investigation: Focussing on the process of a WorkSafe ACT Investigation. How WorkSafe ACT identifies workplaces to inspect, what happens at a workplace visit and how it graduates into an inspection. This presentation also covers WorkSafe ACT enforcement tools, how an investigation is initiated and the investigation process.
- Working From Home and the Australian Work Health and Safety Laws – This presentation covers Principles based legislation, principles based WHS Legislation: Model WHS Laws. It also includes WHS Duties, Risk Management Process and understanding the term reasonably practicable. This presentation will also touch on how WHS laws apply to home workplaces and identifying hazards in a work from home environment.
- Women In Construction – This presentation highlights the importance of women in construction and shares insightful data into the growing workforce of women within the ACT Construction Industry.
- Commercial Construction – Compliance and Enforcement – This Presentation is about understanding the Compliance and Enforcement Policy while also understanding regulatory notices and silica notification changes.
- Health and Safety Representatives (HSR) – Understanding the role of WorkSafe ACT and the need for a HSR in your organisation. This presentation will clearly explain the HSR Training and processes, the HSRs powers and responsibilities and how they play a pivotal role in workers understanding psychosocial hazards within the workplace.
- Understanding WHS - This presentation emphasizes the importance of Work Health and Safety (WHS) by highlighting the significant impacts of poorly managed WHS, including financial costs and unquantifiable human costs. It outlines the duties under WHS laws for various roles in the workplace, such as employers, officers, and workers, and explains key principles and processes for managing risks, identifying hazards, assessing risks, controlling risks, and reviewing and monitoring control measures. The presentation also stresses that WHS duties cannot be transferred or contracted out.
In addition, the WorkSafe ACT Vulnerable Workers Team offers specialised presentations tailored to the needs of specific groups, such as:
- Apprentices: Providing guidance and support to young individuals working in Construction, ensuring they are aware of their rights, responsibilities and training requirements.
- Young Workers: Providing guidance and support to young individuals (25 and under) who are new or entering the workforce.
- Vulnerable Workers: Addressing the needs of workers who may be at greater risk due to various factors, ensuring they receive the necessary protections and support.
