Labour Hire Licence Fee Increase & New Licensing System Update

Effective 1 July 2025

From 1 July 2025, the Labour Hire Licence application fee has increased to $3,341.00. This fee is GST exempt and applies to all new applications submitted from this date.

Additionally, a new Labour Hire Licensing System has been rolled out on 4 July 2025, introducing an online business portal for licence renewals. This change may temporarily affect processing timeframes.

Background

Under the Labour Hire Licensing Act, providers must hold a valid licence to operate legally. Each financial year, the application fee is adjusted in line with indexation to reflect administrative costs and maintain scheme sustainability.

The 2025–26 application fee is:

  • $3,341.00 (GST not applicable)

This applies to new licence and renewal applications lodged from 1 July 2025.

New Labour Hire Licensing System – Effective 4 July 2025

WorkSafe ACT has launched a new business system for processing Labour Hire Licence renewal applications on 4 July 2025. Key changes include:

  • Before uploading documents, businesses must apply for a New Business Portal Account.
  • Applications for portal access can be made via the link provided on the Labour Hire Licensing website.

Application Status Guidance

  • Applications submitted before 4 July 2025:

These have been received and are currently being assessed. If further information is needed, a licensing officer will contact you. Please monitor your nominated business email for updates.

  • Applications submitted on or after 4 July 2025:

You must use the new online portal for renewal applications and ensure all required information is uploaded.  New applications can be lodged by using the form located here. Payment must be made at the time of application and incomplete applications will not be processed.

Action Required

To avoid delays and ensure compliance:

  • Review the Labour Hire Licensing website for the latest fee schedule and portal instructions.
  • Use the online portal for all licence renewals.
  • Use the online form for all new licence applications.
  • Ensure all required documents are uploaded and payments is made at the time of application.

Failure to make payment or incomplete applications may result in rejection or delays.
