Site security

As residential construction resumes, WorkSafe ACT reminds PCBUs to ensure they are meeting their work health and safety obligations including site security.

Site security is essential work

Maintaining site security is required under the Work Health and Safety laws. It involves ensuring that members of the public are not exposed to risks arising from the construction site.

This requirement is considered essential work and sites that do not maintain security are in breach of the work health and safety laws. Some security measures may need monitoring to ensure that weather or other occurrences, such as kangaroos, do not move or damage site signage or fencing.

For more information, visit the construction site management page.
