Fireworks and other explosives

Certain types of fireworks and other explosives are prohibited dangerous substances under the Dangerous Substances Act 2004 and cannot be brought into the ACT or used, handled or stored within the ACT by any person.

Other fireworks and explosives are controlled dangerous substances under the Dangerous Substances Act 2004, and can only be brought into the ACT or used, handled or stored within the ACT by a person authorised under an explosives licence or permit.
