Construction Control

On 17 January 2018, WorkSafe ACT issued a prohibition notice for unsafe scaffolding at Construction Control’s Kingsborough Project.

WorkSafe ACT alleged that on 18 January 2018 Construction Control did not comply with section 197 of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (the Act), in that Construction Control failed to comply with the notice and used pre-cast panel installation works to a lift core, with a worker accessing the lift core scaffold to undertake grouting works.

The regulator considered a proposal for a work health and safety undertaking from Construction Control. The proposal met the regulator’s general guidelines for the acceptance of work health and safety undertakings under the Act and was consistent with Access Canberra’s published guidance material for enforceable undertakings.

The proposal was accepted and became an enforceable undertaking on 14 September 2018. The undertaking will deliver safety benefits to workers, to the construction industry and to the community.

The total financial commitment of the undertaking is $300,000.
