How to get workers' compensation insurance in the ACT

Workers’ compensation insurance in the ACT is provided by private insurers. Refer to List of licensed insurers below to obtain a quote for a workers’ compensation policy.

Insurance companies wishing to provide workers’ compensation insurance in the ACT must be licensed under the  
Workers Compensation Act 1951.

An employer may apply for exemption from maintaining a worker's compensation policy with a licensed insurer by applying to become a licensed self-insurer.

All ACT licensed insurers and self-insurers are required to provide WorkSafe ACT with monthly submissions including comprehensive details of workers compensation insurance policies, claims and payment details for injured workers, and wages and premium amounts.
