International Workers Memorial Day Ceremony 2026

WorkSafe ACT invites media representatives to attend the International Workers’ Memorial Day Event on Tuesday, 28 April 2026.

The event will start at 9:00am at the National Workers Memorial in Kings Park, Parkes ACT, and will run for approximately 45 minutes.

Led by Unions ACT and supported by WorkSafe ACT, the Workers Memorial Day event is a time to reflect and remember the working Australians who have lost their lives and those who are still living with the consequences of work-related incidents and diseases. This event recognises the vital contribution and achievements of Australian workers in building this nation, with a focus this year on the impacts of psychosocial hazards within the workplace.

Health, Mental Health, Finance and Public Service Minister Rachel Stephen-Smith will be speaking at the ceremony alongside Unions ACT Secretary, Kasey Tomkins and Work Health and Safety Commissioner Jacqueline Agius.
