Blasting permits
Overview
Any use of explosives for blasting purposes in the ACT requires a blasting permit before any explosives work may proceed.
Any blasting that does occur must be performed by a person holding a current Shotfirer's Licence.
A blasting permit is not required in the following circumstances:
- use of an explosive by an inspector or police officer exercising a function under the Act; or
- use of any of the following explosives:
- a general use firework
- a model rocket motor
- a safety cartridge
- an explosive power tool cartridge.
- use of a firework under a fireworks display permit
- use of a distress signal in an emergency or for a test to prepare for an emergency.
